Welcome to the Understory Psychology Group
It can be hard to be human. And reaching out for therapy—especially when you’re already struggling—can feel vulnerable, uncertain, even overwhelming. You don’t have to navigate that alone.
Here at the Understory Psychology Group, our team of psychological associates brings warmth, depth, and strong clinical training to our relational, psychodynamic group practice. We understand therapy as something that unfolds between people. Through careful listening, emotional attunement, and curiosity about both conscious and unconscious patterns, we help create a space where meaningful change can emerge.
Our clinicians are trained across diverse community mental health and clinical settings and work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. We approach this work with cultural humility and respect, recognizing how personal history, family systems, culture, and social context shape emotional life.
At the center of our practice is the therapeutic relationship—a collaborative, co-created space built on trust, honesty, and care. Within that relationship, insight deepens, patterns shift, and new ways of being become possible.
Wherever you are in your process, we meet you there.
Meet our Therapists
Hi, I’m Dr. Margaret Boucher. I’m a licensed clinical psychologist in California and the primary supervisor at The Understory Psychology Group. We see clients in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, and all of our therapists offer virtual sessions.
We share a depth-oriented, relational approach to therapy, yet each of us brings our own presence, experiences, and perspective to the work. I invite you to explore our bios to get to know us and to help you find a therapist who might feel like the right fit for you.
